Acceptable Use Policy
Clients of YICHosting may use their account to any extent providing it is acting within the law of the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Clients may also use YICHosting providing that they are not committing any offences as defined by our 'Unacceptable use' section. Violations of our policies can result in account suspension or termination without any warning or notification. This right is reserved by YICHosting.
Unacceptable use

YICHosting may not be used for any of the following:
  • The creation or transmission of any illegal content;
  • The creation or transmission of defamatory material;
  • The transmission of material such that this infringes the copyright of another person;
  • The transmission of unsolicited commercial or advertising material either to other User Organisations, or to organisations connected to other networks, save where that material is embedded within, or is otherwise part of, a service to which the member of the User Organisation has chosen to subscribe;
  • deliberate unauthorised access to facilities or services accessible via YICHosting;
  • deliberate activities with any of the following characteristics:
    • wasting staff effort or networked resources, including time on end systems accessible via YICHosting and the effort of staff involved in the support of those systems;
    • corrupting or destroying other users' data;
    • violating the privacy of other users;
    • disrupting the work of other users;
    • using YICHosting in a way that denies service to other users (for example, deliberate or reckless overloading of access links or of switching equipment);
    • continuing to use an item of networking software or hardware after YICHosting has requested that use cease because it is causing disruption to the correct functioning of YICHosting;
    • other misuse of YICHosting or networked resources, such as the introduction of "viruses";.
    • Where YICHosting is being used to access another network, any abuse of the acceptable use policy of that network will be regarded as unacceptable use of YICHosting. Any breach the Acceptable Use Policies of other networks, that is likely to damage the reputation of the YICHosting network may be regarded as a breach of this Policy.
  • The use of YICHosting to transmit threats of any kind is prohibited.
  • Usage of YICHosting to harass others is also strictly forbidden.
  • Using YICHosting to attempt to gain unauthorised access to other networks is denied.
  • Accounts may only be used for web hosting, IRCds or other types of software like this are not permitted to be run on our web hosting accounts.
  • Using YICHosting to host fraudulent content such as scam pages is forbidden. This includes, but is not limited to chain mail or advertising.

Compliance

It is the responsibility of the user to have read and understood our policies. It is also the responsibility of the user to know that breaches of any of our documents, including our acceptable usage policy can result in account suspension or termination.

Where necessary, services can be withdrawn from users, this includes, but is not limited to bans from our services. An indefinite withdrawal of service, should a violation of these conditions persist after appropriate warnings have been given by YICHosting. A suspension of service, should a violation of these conditions cause serious degradation of the service to other users of YICHosting or the general Internet community. Where violation of these conditions is illegal or unlawful, or results in loss or damage to YICHosting or YICHosting resources or the resources of third parties accessible via YICHosting, the matter may be referred for legal action.

It is preferable for misuse to be prevented by a combination of responsible attitudes to the use of YICHosting resources on the part of users and appropriate disciplinary measures taken by their individual administrators of the said networks.

YICHosting have the final say on account status. If a client is found to have breached any of our policies we reserve the right to suspend, terminate or take any other corrective action to rectify the problem. We reserve the right to take any action without notice to the concerned.

Intellectual property


The names, logos, images and content of identifying YICHosting are subject to copyright and design rights. Any unauthorised modification, usage or redistribution of either the YICHosting logo or its images is hereby illegal and those who violate this term will be subject to prosecution.
